Meredith (Ori) Goodson
I'm a Ph.D. student at the University of Exeter, Penryn campus, and my passion lies in the captivating world of polar science, with a particular fascination for understanding Antarctic marine ecosystems. My background in marine biology is diverse, ranging from research into harmful algal blooms to the establishment of a coral nursery.
The focus of my doctoral research will be to compare two colonies of Antarctic fur seals, one situated on the Antarctic Peninsula and another on South Georgia Island. I will be creating habitat models using tracking data from both colonies and employing stable isotope analysis on whisker samples to gain a clear understanding of their historical ecology.
I’m from Wales and completed my integrated master’s degree at the University of Exeter, Penryn campus. I’m very happy I get the chance to study here again as I love living by the ocean and get to spend my free time swimming, snorkelling and taking my dogs to the beach.
